School's out!!

Haven't blogged in awhile. I was busy cramming for my finals as soon as I got back from Petaluma. I finished school on Friday, and today was my first school-free Monday! Had a pretty good day! Here are some of the cool/fun/interesting things I did or that happened today:

* got woken up by a bunch of crows outside my window this morning. apparently, a baby crow fell out of it's nest and it was a big to do!

* opened my second out of four boxes of nicotine patches! 3 weeks down, 8 to go! yay!

* met up w/ Jenn and Connor for a sushi lunch. Connor likes the crab meat from California Rolls. He also likes to tickle his Auntie by lifting up her shirt so he can tickle her belly. Unfourtunately, I was wearing a dress today : ( haha

*got my favorite iced vanilla latte at The Bean Scene on Murphy St.

* when back to Jenn's and hung out with her knitting ( working on a ruffled cardigan i found in Vogue Knitting! see picture above. i am doing it in a really pretty color called Bleu Canard. it looks green inside and a pretty ocean blue in the sun!) and watching Grey's Anatomy.

* finally learned how to hook my laptop up to a TV with the cables Matt bought me. I know, I was lying before. I wasn't paying attention lol

* cooked a yummy dinner which I ate while watching the season finale of HIMYM

* bought JR a new toy! he's warming up to it

* (this one I'm actually pretty excited about!) bought a lamp for my desk! it's the most responsible thing i've bought in awhile. I can now picture me using it while I research and apply to grad schools and study for classes

* realized I only have 3 more classes left until I graduate!!!!!!!

tomorrow, back to work as well as looking for my summer job. but today was pretty great : )

peace out

The resurrected sister bday tradition!!!!

So a couple of years ago, my sisters and my mom and I got together for my bday and went to dinner. Somehow, we started taking pictures of all of us making monkey faces. This year, we went out to dinner for Gail's bday, and started talking about ways us sisters are alike and not alike genetically. For all who don't know, Gail is my half sister. We have different dads, but Jenn and I have the same Dad. Turns out that Jenn is the only one who can't curl her tongue . . .

Anyhoo, we realized that both Jenn and I can fully cross our eyes, but Gail and mom can only partially cross theirs. Then, thinking back to the monkey portraits taken a few years ago, I decided that every time all four of us get together for a bday, we would pick a new theme and take a different series of funny pics!

So here is the cross-eyed picture series for Gail's 40th bday 2009!!!!

Genetics are weird! I will try to locate the monkey-face pics from a few years ago! Gail, I think you have those! Send them to me!!!!

Gail's 40th Birthday Weekend

Well, this is pretty much how the weekend went. So much for her volleyball/bbq party. It began to rain Friday morning while I was packing, and it was pouring by the time we hit the road to Petaluma. We kept up with the weather updates, and even went to the park armed with umbrellas and tents and set everything up, but finally had succumb to mother nature and go to plan B.

So . . .

Off to Pri-silly's house! Her and her hubby were generous enough to offer up their house as the back up location for the party. While that meant that volleyball was a no go : P lots of Gail's friends and family were able to make it. We were able to stay dry and have a good time! The sangria and burgers were super yummy! A tarp was put up outside on the balcony so we could still bbq (and almost caught on fire, oops!)

Here is the happy bday girl, sporting the sticker that came in Jenn's bday card!

Lots of family pics were taken, but I couldn't fit them all in to this blog. Here's one of the bday girl with her birth mom, two seester-seesters, and her neffie Connor!!!

This pic is a big change compared to the first pic, huh? Some of her gifts included a beautiful violin pin, a spa weekend gift certificate, tons of wine, and summer's eve wipes (ha ha!)

Happy bday seester! Can't wait for next year, when you get to try having a do-over on the whole volleyball bbq. The place you picked out was awesome, and I could tell that you and Priscilla put a lot of thought and effort into it!
